    Zumba workout

    About 20 women got their dancing shoes on this morning during a Zumba class at Energy Fitness for ladies aged 55 and up. Funded by the Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women and Sports and Physical Activity (CAAWS), there is no charge for the class and a membership at the gym is not required. The class was the second of an eight-week session but those interested can join at any time.

    Jared Smith, right, of Canadian Tire stopped by the local CIBC branch this morning and had a bit of fun during Customer Appreciation Day there, while branch manager Todd Thompson looked on. Decked out in a “snow days” theme, the new owner of Canadian Tire, Rick Smith, provided items for the winter displays decorating the branch.

    Kathy Hare, of Motivate Canada, led Serene Whitecrow on “Giishibatoon” along the snowy riding trail at Running Horse Ranch in Miscampbell on Saturday afternoon. More than 35 youths from Seine River First Nation participated in the activity, which was made possible by Motivate Canada. See story, more photos on B1.

Fewer people to be working at local mill

Fewer mill employees will be going back to work once paper production resumes at the Resolute Forest Products mill here early next month.

La Vallee to host district conference

The Township of La Vallee will host local municipal leaders tomorrow for the 21st-annual general meeting and conference of the Rainy River District Municipal Association.
Delegates from as far away as Atikokan will gather at the Devlin Hall to discuss issues that affect communities across the district.
